Parepa-Rosa’s “last appearance in New York, as, at the conclusion of the present season of opera in America, she will sail for Europe for an indefinite stay.”
“The last matinée and farewell performance of Mme. Parepa-Rosa and company at the Academy of Music occurs today. ‘The Bohemian Girl’ will be sung.”
“To the Editor of the Herald—
“Dear Sir—Will you kindly permit me, through your paper, to correct the statement made in our advertisements today, relative to Madame Parepa-Rosa’s intended departure for Europe. The announcement that she would leave America indefinitely was, I am happy to state, an error, as her visit to Europe will only be temporary, and for the purposes of rest and attention to family matters in London. I make this correction personally, as I wrote the advertisement containing the erroneous statement, and employed the term ‘indefinitely’ under a misapprehension. Yours, truly, C. D. HESS.”
The same correction appears in: New York Herald advertisement 04/04/70, p. 12.
