“The public are warned that hereafter all tickets purchased of sidewalk speculators will be stopped at the door. Mr. Daly’s earnest desire always has been to be abate the very annoying nuisance which ticket paddling on the sidewalk engenders, and in making the above one of the ‘rules’ of his theatre believes that he may be able to protect the public from a continuance of the nuisance in front of his theatre.”

Frou Frou “has been one of the most successful plays ever brought out before the New York public, and nothing could be desired more perfect as a phase of society and a photograph of the human heart. Mr. Daly has struck a vital blow at the ticket speculating nuisance by stopping at the door all tickets purchased of this cormorants.”

Multiple cards on the same page. Frou frou “must be called the theatrical sensation of 1870.”

Quotes the Courrier des Etas Unis which favorably compares the production of Frou-Frou at the Fifth Avenue Theatre to that produced at the Theatre Francais. No mention of music. See related Theatre Francais event entry of 04/02/70: Frou-Frou.

Article about a real and recent court case, the particulars of which close resemble the plot of Frou-Frou.

Positive; no mention of music. “…We perceive that Mr. Daly has secured the services of Mr. Lafayette Harrison in the responsible office of business-manager. Mr. Harrison has had the amplest experience in dramatic affairs, and is equally known for his energy, his tact, and his popularity. His advent at this theater is another augury of increased good fortune to Mr. Daly’s enterprise. We perceive that a determined stand is to be made at the Fifth ave. [sic] Theater [sic] against the nuisance of ticket speculation. The public is warned, by formal advertisement, that ‘all tickets purchased of side-walk speculators will be stopped at the door.’”

Brief. “The Manager of the Fifth Avenue Theatre refuses to admit tickets sold by speculators. We don’t know about this—we cannot see by what right they can reject tickets which they have sold at their own ticket office, and for which they have received the money.” In another column, there is also a note that Frou-Frou is “Daly’s most successful piece… It is is best, too.”
