“…The report of the Executive Committee shows in the list of Sorosis 39 women engaged in literature, 6 editors, 12 poets, 5 musical artists, 25 authors, 2 physicians… The aim of Sorosis this year is to utilize this material as much as possible for the object of personal cultivation as well as entertainment…

“A New-Year hymn, by Miss Pollard, was sung, adapted to music by Mme. Clara Brinkerhoff. ‘In spite of the resolution excluding men from the Society,’ says a humorous member, ‘we are only too glad to have one male name represented. A Weber is always present.’ Not the manufacturer himself. ‘Two-hundred and five-per-cent,’ as his friends call him, but a fine piano, sent to the Society’s rooms by the favor of that gentleman.

“Mrs. Bogert read a poem by Alice Gill, and Mme. Brinkerhoff sang admirably a selection of classical music.”
