“‘Frou-Frou’ takes a benefit to-night [Agnes Ethel] at the Fifth avenue [sic], which should, indeed, be made a substantial one by her host of admirers. Review: New York Herald, 26 April 1870, 9.

Notes the Monday (04/25/70) benefit for Ethel was a success. “…The unparalleled and well merited success of ‘Frou-Frou’ is mainly due to the intelligent efforts of Mr. Augustin Daly, an able dramatist and a faithful manager, and one, too, who has done much to elevate the standard of drama—a standard beautifully exhibited in the admirable and appropriate selections which he ever presents with care. A refined and educated audience will never be wanting when ability, industry and talent are brought into proper requisition.”
