Review: New York Clipper, 07 May 1870, 38.

“Rollin Howard, the burlesque prima donna, has been so favorably received at the hall of the San Francisco Minstrels, that he continues as one of the principal attractions. His make up for the business is equal if not superior to any other artists in the same line of business…Mr. Howard has a voice well adapted to his style of performance, and he has also a good selection of songs. He pleases the audience and receives from three to four encores nightly. One of his songs the past week was of the Chinese stamp, and it was loudly applauded. Mr. William Dwyer, the balladist, late of Bryant’s [sic] Minstrels, has met with success at this hall. In the first part he sang ‘Mary Aileen’ beautifully, and in the olio he gave a ballad which was encored.”
