Review: New York Clipper, 18 April 1863.
“We missed the delightful vocalism that was the feature of the Niblo version, and likewise the great dancing of the corps de ballet, only one song being introduced into the Bowery play—well sung, however, by Miss Denham—and but ordinary dance, for the comic pas de deux was not worthy the name of a dance.  Take it altogether, leaving out the vocalism and ballet dancing of the play at Niblo’s, we would just as soon see the New Bowery representation as the other. . . . The spectacle was received with such immense favor last week, that the manager announces it for repetition during the current week.  That last scene, probably the most magnificent ever placed on the stage, is alone worth the price charged for admission.”

COMMENT: Is the reference to Niblo’s talking about Satanella?
