“At Association Hall, the attendance, if numerous, was not quite so large as it ought to have been, the improvement in the list of artists engaged being taken into account. This list included [see above]. ‘Vom Fels Zum Meer,’ a march for organ, by Liszt, was the novel element of the bill the performers interpreted.”

“The second popular concert at Association Hall was also thronged with ladies. Clara Perl, the distinguished contralto, who sang, ‘Ah! mon fils,’ and with Boi, the duet from ‘Trovatore,’ was the main attraction. She was an unmistakable success. Carl Formes sang in the duet from ‘Robert,’ and an air from the ‘Marriage of Figaro.’ There is little of his once grand voice left.”

“At that of last Saturday, Clara Perl was the lady vocalist. Carl Formes sang, and gave remarkable satisfaction. Signor Boy and Antonio Morra [sic] also lent their aid, and the whole affair was one of the most pleasing of our recent musical entertainments. These concerts are largely attended by ladies, who flock from the suburbs as well as from the city.”
