“…a musical burlesque upon the ‘Brigands,’ entitled the ‘Black Brigands,’ in which Dan Bryant as the Brigand Queen, and J. W. McAndrews as the Chief of the Brigands, were the prominent features. Dan’s make-up was extremely ludicrous; his appearance caused shouts of laughter, and none seemed to enjoy his impersonation more thoroughly than the original representative of the rôle, Mlle. Aimée, who occupied, in company with Col. Jas. Fisk, Jr., the left hand proscenium box. Little Mac, who personated a soldier, caused much merriment. The burlesque was short but telling, and the whispering and laughing choruses were prominent features and were well performed.”
