“Herr FEININGER’S concert at Association Hall, last evening, was not very largely attended. Herr CANDIDUS, tenor; Mr. PINNER and Herr KORTHENER, pianists, and Mme. FEININGER assisted. The most conspicuous part of the entertainment was the violin performance of Herr FEININGER, whose execution of Hungarian airs by ERNST, and of the first movement of a concerto by BEETHOVEN, opus 61, with an extremely difficult cadenza by JOACHIM, deserves the greatest praise.”

“Mr. Carl Feininger gave a concert on Wednesday evening at Association Hall under the auspices of the German Young Men’s Christian Association. Mme. E. Feininger, his wife, a soprano with a fresh, full voice and satisfactory execution, was heard to great advantage. But the feature of the evening was the performance by Mr. Feiniger of the first movement of Beethoven’s concerto for the violin and orchestra. This was given with all the passion and effect which render this artist remarkable among our popular violinists. We thought, however, that the time was rather too slow. In the second part Mr. Feininger performed Ernst’s Hungarian airs with much brilliancy. Mr. Pinner, a skillful young pianist, played Liszt’s fantasia on Lucia in an excellent manner.”
