“The fifth concert of Mr. Jerome Hopkins, for the Orpheonist Free School fund, was given on Saturday evening at Apollo Hall. The assistants were Mrs. Sarah Kevan and Mme. G. Chevallier, soprani, and Mr. H. Eugene Clarke, the young tenor of the Euterpe Society. The programme represented Stephen Heller, Verdi, Topliffe, Gumbert and L. de Meyer, and was very acceptably rendered throughout, with the exception of the last chorus. The piano performance of Mr. Hopkins and the singing by Mrs. Kevan and Mr. Clarke were the principal features, and were warmly applauded. The lady has a good voice, and its first public trial was decidedly successful.”
