Little about music; notes robust attendance despite a severe storm. “…It was indeed a gay throng, and the general good humor of the dancers, the lively music, the dazzle of diamonds and dress, formed a pleasing contrast to the scene ‘out of doors.’…The programme was carried out, and all without a hitch or an unpleasant word…the results will certainly show as much material aid for the orphans as have the balls in the past.”

“…Despite the severe cold and [illeg.] gale of the most forbidding night of mid-Winter, the guests of the Association commenced to enter the Academy at an early hour in the calendar of fashion. By midnight fully 3,000 ladies and gentlemen were present, crowding the spacious floor of the auditorium to such an extent that a promenade was far more agreeable than dancing, even when enticed thereto by the music of Grafulla.” No further mention of music.
