Review: New-York Times, 03 November 1871, 4.

“The habitual playgoer need hardly be told that Mr. Dan Bryant is one of the few minstrels of the ‘old school’ remaining, and that the Ethiopian performances given under his direction revive many pleasant recollections of the palmy days of burnt cork. Further, they are free from coarseness. Equal praise cannot be bestowed in all directions.”
