“Last evening Mrs. Mary Gellie-Fox, the much-admired soprano of Christ Church, gave an interesting concert at Lyric Hall, which was largely attended by the fashionable congregation at that now much-talked-of church. Mrs. Fox sang with much grace a difficult cavatina from the ‘Gemma di Vergy,’ and gave a pleasing rendering of the delicate ballad ‘Waiting.’ She also took part in the finale to the second act of ‘Poliuto,’ and in the ‘Miserere,’ from ‘Trovatore.’ These concerted pieces, with the addition of a chorus, were effectively given, and in the latter, especially, Mrs. Fox appeared to great advantage, doing justice to that noble composition, which always pleases when well sung.

The lady was assisted by Mr. Candidus and Mr. Remmertz, both of whom were in excellent voice; by Mr. Morosini, a facile pianist; Mr. Lewenberg, a violinist who deserves to be more often heard; and by Dr. Cutler and the choir of Christ Church. Signor Carozzi conducted the concert with excellent taste and judgment.”
