“Aimée’s benefit last night was a bumper. Crowded to the doors the little theatre presented an animated scene, perfectly in accord with the sparkling spirit of the production. ‘La Périchole’ had never a more artistic representative than the versatile and accomplished interpreter of opéra bouffe under whose talented auspices the season has so far been successfully conducted. Mlle. Aimée was, in fact, the deserving recipient of the heartiest approbation, to say nothing of the charming floral tributes literally showered upon her. We have had occasion to allude to her admirable performance of this favorite rôle; but, as if inspired last night by the agreeable surroundings, she eclipsed, if possible, her previous brilliant efforts. Encores were frequent, and at times the audience became enthusiastic in their applause. Well sustained as she was by MM. Noe, Duchesne, Edgard and others, Aimée proved herself a thorough artiste, and it is safe to say that she has no superior in her line upon the stage.”
