“The concert in the warerooms on the same evening brought out such sterling artists as Dr. Damrosch, Herr Prueckner, Miss Lasar, and Messrs. Matzka, Schuessel, Schwartz and Bergner. The programme comprised [see above]. With two such accomplished artists as Dr. Damrosch and Herr Prueckner on the violin and piano, the concert was a highly enjoyable one. Liszt’s work, in particular, excited a great deal of interest, as it was played for the first time in this country. It is marked with the usual inconsistencies of his style, but full of power and brilliancy.”
