“On the same evening, in the warerooms beneath the hall, a very charming soirée was given by Messrs. Damrosch & Pruckner, being the third of the series. Beethoven’s lovely sonata for piano and violin (C minor, opus 30), Volkmann’s trio in B minor for piano, violin and cello (new), Joachim’s Hungarian dances for violin and piano (new) and Haydn’s well known trio in G minor formed the staple of the bill. Dr. Damrosch is an accomplished violinist and Mr. Pruckner is a piano virtuoso of no ordinary calibre. Mr. Bergner on the cello and Mr. Remmertz, the favorite baritone, contributed no small share to the success of the soiree.”
