“The young lady’s friends were assembled in large numbers, and she received a most flattering welcome. The entertainment included selections from Italian opera and English airs, executed by Miss Gaylord and Mr. W. Macdonald; a violin solo by Signor Padovani; and the comedy of ‘Americans in Paris,’ in which Miss Davenport and Miss Gaylord, with Messrs. Stoddart, Ringgold, Rockwell, and Holland appeared. Mr. A. H. Pease presided at the piano, and, between the acts of the comedy, the Imperial quartet of horn-players played several airs.”
