“Miss Montague has a pleasing appearance, may be pronounced a good vocalist, and her vocal efforts met with favor. Bradley and Guilfoil’s songs were new, and although their dancing was excellent and original, the slight applause bestowed upon their performances would indicate that the public taste was becoming satiated with song and dance performers in general. Prof. St. Clair displayed rapid and difficult execution in his performances upon the ‘Xylo Cala’ piano, which consisted of blocks of wood struck with sticks. He played correctly and with taste several selections of popular music, and being recalled gave more difficult compositions.” “A new and original quartet entitled ‘Watermelons,’ sung by Frank Kerns, John Wild, William West and John Queen, provoked much mirth. James W. McKee, in character songs (one sung in the character of an old man), met with much favor; Hugh Hagerty, in Dutch songs, and Miss Annie Adams, serio-comic, continued during the week. The attendance has continued large, and a great portion of the audiences in the lower portions of the house has been composed of ladies.”
