“The second of the series of Saturday evening concerts by the new band of the Twenty-second regiment, National Guard, under P. S. Gilmore’s leadership, was given last evening at the armory in Fourteenth street, and proved, as it deserved to do, a very flattering endorsement of the approval which marked the initial performance of this superb organization. A very large and select attendance was present. The programme was selected with excellent judgment, and the rendition of it was of a higher order of excellence than we have been accustomed to hear from our military bands.”
