“Miss Jennie Hughes was warmly greeted on her first appearance this season. She wore a new and charming costume of white silk profusely trimmed with rich lace and pond lilies. She sang two fresh songs, and in response to a recall repeated one that had become popular during the previous season…R. M. Carroll and his sons, known as Little Dick, the General and Master Eddie, performed their Irish and Ethiopian specialties, which met with much favor. In their songs-and-dances, clog dances, etc., they have obtained a proficiency that would do credit to performers of mature years. R. M. Carroll danced a clog, which, for excellence of time, rapidity of execution and variety of steps, we have seldom if ever seen equaled…Prof. O’Reardon’s performance[s] on the tumbleronicon were well received, and he was several times recalled. At their conclusion he performed upon the piano ‘Fisher’s Hornpipe” with the right hand, ‘Yankee Doodle’ with the left, and at the same time whistled ‘Tramp, Tramp.’”
