Review: New-York Daily Tribune, 09 March 1874, 4.

“The Sunday concert at the Grand Opera-House yesterday was enjoyed by an overflowing audience. Mr. Gilmore’s band played as usual. M. Wieniawski was recalled time and again after his marvelous violin performances, and M. Capoul and Mlle. Torriani supplied the vocal music.”

Review: New York Herald, 09 March 1874, 6.

“Three thousand people attended the concert at the Grand Opera House last night. Gilmore’s celebrated Twenty-second Regiment Band played selections from Weber, Handel and Bach, and Mr. Arbuckle gave Mercadante’s ‘Tantum Ergo’ as a cornet solo. M. Wieniawski, the distinguished violinist, was encored vociferously in Ernst’s fantasia on ‘Il Pirata’ and Paganini’s ‘Carnival of Venice.’ The vocalists were Mlle. Ostava Torriani and M. Victor Capoul, who were in excellent voice and received abundant applause.”
