Review: New York Post, 08 April 1874.
“St. Paul’s Methodist Episcopal Church, on Fourth avenue and Twenty-second street, was fairly filled last night on the occasion of a grand instrumental and vocal concert given by Mr. W. R. Johnston, the organist of the church since its opening in 1857.

Mr. Johnston played four solos [see above]. The applause was liberal, and was emphasized by the presentation of a basket of flowers.

Among the assistant artsts were [see above], all rendered efficient aid. The audience numbered about eight hundred and was extremely select.”
