“Philharmonic rehearsal 2 ½ p.m. It’s a heavy programme. Bristow’s symphony does not improve on better acquaintance. Temple judiciously observes that its four movements are four overtures, and do not constitute a symphony. In my box were Rosalie [Ruggles], Miss Sturgis, Dick [Richard Henry Derby], & Bishop Tozer (a very nice person). Also Timm.”
