“As yesterday was the last of the American Institute Fair, there was a large attendance of visitors not withstanding the inclement weather, and the scene of beauty and comfort inside of the Academy of Music was in brilliant contrast to the cloudy and rainy prospect without.

. . . Throughout the evening a very large concourse of guests, the majority of whom were ladies, were regaled by the music of the fine band and of amateur performers on the splendid pianos exhibited, and feasted their gaze and fancies upon the beautiful marvels displayed around them. At 10 o’clock, the signal was sounded, and in a few moments the fairy scene was dark and silent.”

“Mr. Bradbury, of this City, obtained the first prize for piano-fortes at the American Institute. A very superior instrument, made by Mr. Peck, on the plan of S.B. Driggs, secured the second prize.”
