“The final performance of Emerson’s Minstrels took place at this house last night, before a crowded and fashionable audience. The departure of the gay minstrels will be learned with regret by thousands to whom a few hours’ hearty laughter was a relief from the cares of everyday life. Mr. McGuire, under whose management the troupe played at the Park, was not satisfied with the amount of support given by the New York public, and, in truth, it was not so great as the merits of the company would have warranted. Still the business done was not bad for the time of year; but Mr. McGuire hopes to reap a richer golden harvest at Philadelphia and Baltimore, whither he goes immediately.”
