“A concert given by the professors and pupils of the New-York Conservatory of Music, at Steinway Hall, Wednesday evening, introduced to the public a young soprano, Miss Hoffmann, whose rich voice and correct delivery at once produced a very favorable impression. Miss Hoffmann, like Miss Addie Randall, who took part in the same entertainment, and the success of whose appearance in English opera was recorded a few days ago, is a pupil of Max Maretzek, who has, it seems, the good fortune to discover prime donne of the future as well as the talent to develop their enviable gifts.”

“The concert given by the N. Y. Conservatory of Music at Steinway Hall on Wednesday evening, under the direction of Messrs. Ed. Mollenhauer, Max Maretzek and August Arnold, proved a gratifying musical success. The programme offered a choice selection of classical music, in the interpretation of which the Misses Randall, Hoffman, Preston and Heidenheim, advanced pupils of the school, took part, the concert being under the conductorship of Sig. E. Marzo.”
