“Mr. Jerome Hopkins, the well known pianist and organist, has made an offer to the Cooper Union trustees to the effect that if they will give the use of their great hall he will open a Sunday ‘Orpheon’ free choir school there and thus give about 3,000 persons something elevating, reifining and moral to do on Sunday afternoons in place of loafing, cruising and dissipating.
The idea is a novel one, and is sure of endorsement by our best citizens.”
