Review: New-Yorker Staats-Zeitung und Herold, 06 November 1863, 8.
Sold out event.  Most of the music, choruses and songs of the play are melodious and pleasant-sounding, especially the opening choir of the first act and the “Landknechtslied” of the third act.  Regarding the quality of the performance, some of the chorus parts were still a little insecure.  However, we expect this to be corrected for the third performance tonight.

Review: New-Yorker Staats-Zeitung und Herold, 08 November 1863, 4.

All three performances were sold out.  We believe the attraction and the success of the show was less attributed to the poetic content or attractive plot, but to the extraordinary scenery and set design.  Apart from the rather unsatisfactory performance of the solo singers and the choirs, the acting was very well done.
