“The children of our public schools have been invited to attend.  Five emancipated white children from Gen. Bank’s Department will be present, an old man, whose forehead is branded with the initials of his owner’s name will be there; a large assortment of instruments of torture used on the plantations will be exhibited.  Rev. Mr. Cuyler, Rev. Mr. Frothingham, Rev. Mr. Cookman, Rev. Prof. Lindsay, Rev. Mr. Newman and other distinguished speakers will address the meeting.  As the children are expected to leave in a few days for the South, this may be the last opportunity of seeing them.  This promises to be a high day for the children.  Mr. S. Lasar will lead the singing.  Old and young are invited.  Seats free.”
