Brief. “Niblo’s Saloon was a regular crush last night to hear the second performance of Mr. G. Harrison’s American Opera Company.—It was a grand success.”

Review: New York Herald, 17 January 1864.
“Mr. Harrison’s artists gave a second representation of the Bohemian Girl at Niblo’s Saloon on Friday evening, with even more success than on their first night. The house was overcrowded by a most select and appreciative audience. Mme. Borchard and Messrs. Castle and Campbell were much applauded, and certainly deserved all the favor shown them by the public. Mr. Harrison’s enterprise is evidently appreciated by the lovers of music here, and he will undoubtedly meet with the support he merits.”

“The Harrison English Opera troupe gave two performances of the ‘Bohemian Girl’ at Niblo’s Saloon last week, both with immense success. The singers have vastly improved, and the orchestra and chorus were alike vigorous and excellent. We find the following sensible remarks in the Musical Review and World, and we quote them as an indication of the attention English opera is now attracting in art cirlces;” [Quotes MR&W article.
