“A musical entertainment, gotten up under the auspices of several musical celebrities of this city, took place at the residence of Mrs. H. J. Gardner, East Twenty-first street, Gramercy Park, on Saturday evening last, the 5th inst. The tickets were two dollars each, the entire proceds [sic] of which were donated to the Sanitary Fair. Among the volunteers that appeared on the occasion, were Teresa Careno, the celebrated pianist; and Mr. Frank Converse, who gave a banjo solo, introducing imitations of bell chimes, hurdy-gurdy, etc.”
