“Teresa Carreno’s second concert last night revealed again the extraordinary skill and power of the little girl pianist.  In such an elaborate selection as Thalberg’s ‘Huguenots’ fantasia, she manifested a strength of hand almost marvelous, while in lighter music, which is, after all, better adapted to her style, she plays with exquisite grace and delicacy.
The other features of the concert were attractive.  Mrs. Jenny Kempton, who certainly possess one of the most glorious of existing contralto voices, sang the
brindisi from ‘Lucrezia’, una voce, [from] ‘Il Barbiere,’ and a little song by J.R. Thomas, with the abundance of vocal richness which marks her style.  Mrs. Mixsell, a high soprano, with a telling voice, also sang most acceptably as did Mr. Farley, tenor, and Mr. Draper, baritone.”
