Full cast, time, prices, etc. “From the fact of it being impossible to secure any nights at Niblo’s Saloon for the English Opera after the 21st of January to Wednesday, Feb. 3, there will be no opera until later date, on which occasion will be produced Wallace’s great opera of MARITANA.”

“On Tuesday and last night the Bohemian Girl was again given in New York to crowded houses. Notwithstanding the competing attractions at the other theatres, there seems to be a determination on the part of the public to give English opera all the encouragement possible. Unfortunately, so far as New York is concerned, Mr. Harrison will be unable to profit by this disposition, as from the present date to the 3d of February Niblo’s Saloon is let for other performances. From that time out, however, he will be able to pursue his career of success uninterrupted. In the meanwhile New Yorkers wishing to hear English opera will have to make a pilgrimage to Brookyln.”

“The HARRISON English Opera Company is meeting with the most encouraging success. Its continuance is placed beyond peradventure by a steady prosperity that leaves nothing but a larger house to be desired. The performance at Niblo’s Saloon on Thursday evening was attended by a really brilliant audience, sufficient in every way to indicate that the ‘Bohemian Girl’ is yet an attractive opera with the musical public. [Here is a reference to a performance of Wallace’s Maritana  at the Park Theatre]. For the present, we shall not have the Harrison English opera company in this City. Niblo’s Saloon is unfortunately engaged for the remainder of the month. . . In the meantime, our Brooklyn friends have a monopoly of English opera. Tonight the “Bohemian Girl” will be given by particular request. The performance of this work is now exceedingly smooth and creditable. The leading voices leave nothing to be desired, and the chorus is excellent.”
