Western’s “style of acting is rather too ‘pronounced’ for Broadway audiences, but the house is well attended, and the manager must be doing well.  Miss Western is so handsome and possesses such undeniable ability, that it is the more to be regretted that she manifests a lack of refinement which is sometimes really offensive.”
