“That beautiful little fairy spectacle ‘Cinderella, or the Glass Slipper’ is the piece chosen by Mrs. Holman for the opening of her new place of amusement in Broadway.  This has always been a favorite attraction for families everywhere, and in this city has drawn the largest audiences when performed at Niblo’s and other theatres.  Mrs. Holman has fitted up her hall in a very tasteful manner, and will commence her season this evening, May 23rd.  The location is 720 Broadway.”

“This neat, cozy, fireside establishment is now in the full tide of success, and has become quite a fashionable resort.  The opera of ‘Cinderella’ has been very effectively put on the stage, and the little performers sustain their parts in a most creditable manner.  Miss Sallie Holman sings Rossini’s gems very beautifully and Master Alfred performs his drum solo in a manner yet to be excelled.  The Academy has been well filled every night since its opening, by the lovers of that which is chaste and beautiful.”

“The Holman Children have been performing during the past week at Hope Chapel, to very appreciative audiences.  The Holman’s have fitted Hope Chapel up with a good stage and capital scenery, and it is well adapted to their performances. Sallie Holman occupies a prominent position in the company. She is a very clever vocalist, and sings with much force and feeling. “Cinderella” was the principal attraction last week, and so favorably was it received that it will be continued on the bills this week.”
