“One of the most elegant and best ventilated theatres in the city is that occupied by Wood’s Minstrels. Unlike the old halls devoted to this kind of entertainment, it is so constructed that persons can see and hear comfortably in all parts of the house. It presents at the same time an aspect of luxuriousness and refinement which, though it may appear inconsistent with the character of the performances, is yet extremely agreeable. As a natural result the audiences are of a superior class, and present quite as fashionable an appearance as those of the opera or other leading theatres.”
