“A grand sacred concert, in aid of the House of the Good Shepherd, took place at Cooper Institute last night, under the auspices of several of the highest dignitaries of the roman Catholic Church.  The feature of the entertainment was the performance of Busch’s Stabat Mater, produced lately at St. Anne’s Church, under the direction of Mr. R. Gonzalez, with great success.  It was splendidly rendered last evening. . . . Mr. Simpson sang the tenor parts with exquisite taste and finish.”
