“The busts of Garibaldi and Washington and the national flags of Italy and the United State formed the fitting decorations at the Ball of the Italian Benevolent Society at Irving Hall last night. The company was numerous enough to be gay, and not too numerous to make a crowd. The dresses were, in many instances, very beautiful, and among the belles of the evening were one or two ladies with hair elaborately dressed in powder.

The music, provided by two bands at opposite ends of the hall, was the best yet performed at any of this winter’s balls. The whole entertainment was well managed, and seemed to give entire satisfaction.
