“The ‘Pearl of Savoy’—produced here on Monday evening—is a version of the drama whence the opera of ‘Linda di Chamounix’ was performed. . . . Miss Maggie Mitchell plays the damsel in question, and plays it badly. . . . A worse performance of a principal part we have never seen. . . . Miss Mitchell’s feet are lively.  They danced on the American flag, when she tore it down with her own hands, and they dance with animal vitality on everything else.”

Letter to the editor from Anna Mitchell, mother of Maggie Mitchell, disputing the review in the Times on 06/07/65, which said that Maggie tore down and danced upon an American Flag.  Anna Mitchell found the tone of the article “coarse, harsh and unjust.”
