“Anthem was that fine composition of [Righini] ‘The Lord is great.’ Solid and brilliant, possibly too strong of a bravura flavor in its finale, but that is hypercriticism.  It was well rendered, and the chorale after the Gospel (Old Hundred) was very effective.  But the execution of the Chants was slovenly.  I fear we still have reason to regret Cutler the Doctor.  Some of the concords of choir and chancel organ (discords I should have written) inflicted keen torture on every member of a rather large congregation.”
