“After prayer . . . the exercises of the day commenced by the singing of several anthems by the classes, declamation, composition and song, rendering the entertainment one of a most attractive character. . . . Two songs by a young lady, Miss Butterson, ‘I’ll Tell Nobody’ and ‘Stolen Kisses,’ called forth the approbation of those present.  The natural grace of her manner and action, and the almost fascinating sweetness of her voice, promise fairly to place her in a high position as a vocalist one of these days.  The singing of Misses Bulkely, in the duet ‘Wandering in the Maytime,’ was also admirable.”
