Announcement: New York Clipper, 28 October 1865, 230.

“ ‘The Streets of New York’ will be put in black at Bryants’ Minstrels, this evening, introducing Dan Bryant as the susceptible Badger.  And there, too, will be sung that good old song, ‘The Wearing of the Green,’ with many choice gems of pathetic minstrelsy.  This hall is nightly packed—that is the most proper word—with wall-squeezed and delighted wearers of the green and other autumnal tints of womanly apparel.”
