“The opera of ‘Un Ballo in Maschera’ was given . . . to a fashionable, but not a full house. The fact is that the new comic opera, new at least to this country, has created so delightful an impression, that every one is waiting for its repetition, and ‘Un Ballo in Maschera’ is not strong enough to draw against such an attraction. The cast was, however, very strong, numbering among the principals Carozzi-Zucchi, Bosisio, Bice de Rossi, Mazzoleni and Bellini, and the opera was well performed throughout, the audience appreciating very heartily the exertions of the artists throughout.”
