“An operatic performance of a semi-private character took place last evening at Mr. Jerome’s elegant little theatre. The occasion was the debut of Miss Minnie Hauck, a young lady who, we believe, aims, and with fair prospect of success to fill a good position on the lyric stage. She is about seventeen years old, and possesses decided personal attractions. The opera was ‘Linda di Chamounix,’ in which, as the gentle heroine, Miss Hauck made, we are told, a complete success. She was assisted, among other artists, by Madame D’Angri. Abella led the orchestra, and among the audience was our most successful American prima donna, Miss Kellogg.

Miss Hauck who, as her name implies, is a German, will proceed soon to Europe to complete her musical education. She has for some time been a pupil of Signor Errani, the tenor.”

The young debutante Miss Hauck possesses a highly pleasant sounding high soprano voice. She is the student of Mr. Abella and is very promising.
