Includes a detailed description of the prize emblem.  “In the afternoon a rehearsal of the Wallpurgisnacht [sic], under the direction of Mr. Pauer, was held by the Gemischte chorus, composed of about one hundred lady singers of the Liederkranz, Teutonia, and Sing Academie, and the male members of these societies, in connection with the orchestra.  The Wallpurgisnacht [sic]—one of the most complicated musical compositions—has been reserved for the reception concert on Sunday, and is one of the most brilliant musical productions, which by the singers was rendered yesterday in a most efficient manner.  The singers have succeeded in obtaining the consent of Superintendent Kennedy to hold the reception concert at the Academy of Music on Sunday, inasmuch as there is no profane music included in the programme.  The Germania Assembly are being renovated for the Saengerfest, and the place is at present, as yet, in a very unfinished state.  Yesterday the prize standard was exhibited at the Germania Assembly Rooms.  It is a specimen of great artistic skill, from the atelier of a Mr. Meyer, in Canal street.  The prize emblem is of heavy white silk, with gold fringes and embroidery, and will cost about six hundred dollars. The following is the inscription on one side:—

PREISGERBE
DES NEUNTEN ALLGEMEINES
SAENGERFESTES
ABGEHALTEN VOM 15 BIS 20 JULI
1865.  NEW YORK

The other side bears three emblematical figures. Another important prize, which, like the former, is intended for the societies who will be victorious in the prize exercises, is the prize goblet. To-day another rehearsal and a meeting of the arrangements committee is to take place at the Germania Assembly Rooms.”
