“Sam Sharpley’s Iron Clads attract good houses in the Bowery in spite of all the opposition in the burnt cork line.  T. D. Rice’s opera of ‘Bone Squash’ was produced on the 10th inst., with Samuel S. Sanford as Bone Squash, an old dark, which he presented to the lite [sic], and in which he gained much applause.  The piece was well put on the stage, and cast to the full strength of the company.  Besides the opera, the usual minstrel entertainment was given.  El Nino Eddie was advertised to appear, but failed to put in his appearance.”
