“The first [sic] of a series of Saturday afternoon concerts took place at this park on Saturday last.  An excellent orchestra, under the direction of Carl Bergmann, rendered selections from the Huguenots, the Studentenlieder of Strauss, the Tell and Merry Wives of Windsor overtures and Mr. Bergmann’s Echo galop. The music was very well executed and the audience well pleased.  The next concert will take place on Saturday, June 16.”
