“Mr. John E. Owens, notwithstanding the brilliant series which, for nearly thirteen months, he has been playing at the Broadway, has, it seems, held his strongest characters in close reserve. He appears this evening as Caleb Plummer in the dramatic adaptation of Dot, in the Cricket on the Hearth…The piece, which is among the best of the school of domestic dramas, is well cast at the Broadway, and announced with all the requisite accessions of new scenery and mechanisms.”
