“We have had the pleasure of attending several of these truly interesting gatherings, and advise our musical readers to do the same. The music performed is in itself peculiar, and belongs to an almost unexplored repertoire. It consists of arrangements for the Cabinet organ, violin, violincello and piano-forte. The combination is very pleasing and brings within pleasant social reach many compositions which if played on any single instrument would barely satisfy the ear. When we add that the performers are Messrs. Wm. Mason, Theodore Thomas, F. Bergner and S. P. Warren, it will be seen that the charm of perfect execution is not withheld from the entertainment. The programme for Wednesday next contains twelve numbers, and represents Beethoven, Mozart, Schubert, Spohr, Gounod, Meyerbeer, Verdi, Stradella and Donizetti. We anticipate a very agreeable afternoon’s concert.”
