Review: New York Clipper, 02 June 1866, 62.

“[A] great and successful affair.  The Olympic was crowded in every part, nearly all the seats in the orchestra and a great many in the parquet having been secured five days previous, and when the curtain went up there was not a vacant seat to be seen. The two lower private boxes were sold for $110 and $100, and the others for $50 each. All the orchestra seats and five rows of seats on each side of the parquet were reserved at $1.50 each, the total receipts reaching $2,000, proving it to be in every sense of the word a benefit, indeed. . . . Being called upon for a speech [after the performance] she . . . said that she was about to visit Europe, professionally and for the benefit of her health. . . . She told her auditors that they need not look in the Herald for any account of her success, for it would not be there.  This remark was received with great applause.”  Music not mentioned.
